Codeine reschedule a hot topic at PA2017!

To assist pharmacy assistants understand the issues and prepare for the impact of codeine re-scheduling in February 2018, this year’s PA Conference (PA2017) will feature multiple education sessions on this key topic.

According to Industry Consultant Kos Sclavos, pharmacy assistants are on the front line of this issue and it’s important they are well equipped to manage the 1 February change.

“We know that 1 February will have a big impact on pharmacy, and, pharmacy assistants will be at the forefront of this transformation.”

“There are a number of components that pharmacy assistants will need to understand and digest prior to 1 February.

“It is important that pharmacy assistants are empowered and equipped to discuss forthcoming changes with patients, handle complainants and stock management issues, and understand the complexities of the pain management category,” Kos said.

PA2017 will cover everything pharmacy assistants need to know regarding the codeine re-schedule, from alternative products to pain management and the role pharmacy assistants will play throughout the up-scheduling.

These key sessions, presented by industry leading pain specialists AFT Pharmaceuticals, Reckitt Benckiser and GSK will include the following topics:

1. Navigating strong pain relief in pharmacy
2. Better pain management post codeine up-scheduling
3. Pain management – staying ahead in this ever changing pain environment

PA2017 will be held from 26-28 October at QT Hotel on the Gold Coast. The conference will feature over 30 education sessions, 40 suppliers showcasing their products and services, and extensive networking opportunities across the two day event including the Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner.
