Guild eTraining – Analgesics for Pharmacy Assistants

Thursday 16 October

3.30pm – 5.30pm

See the latest in nationally accredited Guild Training for analgesics and anti-inflammatories. This fun and informative session will incorporate an interactive audience system. Attendance is FREE and can be counted towards QCPP 2nd edition continuing education requirements.

Ben Basger
Community Pharmacist & Lecturer and Tutor in Pharmacy Practice, The University of Sydney

Ben is a community and private hospital pharmacist in North Bondi. He has had a part-time appointment at the University of Sydney since 1980 as a tutor and lecturer in Pharmacy Practice, and regularly presents continuing education for the PSA. In 1999 Ben was awarded the Hoeschst Marion Roussel medal of excellence in Pharmacy Practice, and in 2003 was Australian Pharmacist of the Year. In 2007 he received a teaching award from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sydney. He is currently enrolled in a part-time PhD researching appropriate use of medications in the elderly.


Maxine Goodman

Maxine Goodman has practiced as both a community and hospital pharmacist, for a number of years was the Branch Director of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia NSW Branch. Maxine has been involved in continuing education activities for pharmacists for 35 years and during her hospital pharmacy experiences provided pharmacology lectures to trainee nurses as well as acting as a clinical tutor for Diploma in Hospital Pharmacy candidates.


Larissa Kalt Larisa Kalt Head of Professional Marketing, Baby & Beauty, Johnson & Johnson Pacific

Larissa Kalt is Head of Professional Marketing for Baby and Beauty at Johnson & Johnson Pacific. Larissa has studied Medical Science at Sydney University, with first class honours in Biochemistry. She is also tertiary educated in Commerce and is certified by the Touch Research Institute of Miami University as an Infant Massage Instructor. Larissa has worked in the healthcare industry for several years in various clinical, marketing and business management roles.


Kerryn Grieve
Research and Development Manager, Ego Pharmaceuticals

Kerryn Greive is the Research and Development Manager for Ego Pharmaceuticals in Melbourne. After receiving her PhD in Biochemistry from Monash University, Kerryn worked as a Research Project Manager in the field of medical imaging. She joined Ego Pharmaceuticals as a Research and Development Chemist in 2001 and today manages the expanding national and international research program.


Jodie Langley National Training Manager, Symbion Consumer

Jodie Langley is the National Training Manager for Symbion Consumer. Jodie has been conducting seminars and training sessions in the natural health field for over 10 years and has a passion for increasing people's knowledge of health and wellbeing. A naturopath and acupuncturist, Jodie's wealth of knowledge comes not only from her qualifications, but also from her extensive background in retail customer service, sales, and clinical practice.


Louise Mercer
Planning & Projects Manager, Guild Financial Services

Louise Mercer is currently the Planning & Projects Manager for Guild Financial Services and has previously worked in Human Resources for the Guild Group. Louise is passionate about enjoying what you do and believes that if people are looked after, the business will look after itself. She is currently completing her Masters of Business Administration. In her spare time she enjoys competing in triathlons.


Wendy Phillips Deputy Executive Director, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia

Wendy Phillips has been with the Pharmacy Guild as Director of the Strategic Policy Division since 1992, and as Deputy Executive Director since May 2006. In these roles Wendy has been involved with a variety of industry issues including pharmacy ownership, supermarkets and maintaining the current scheduling system. Wendy is passionate about promoting female pharmacists into pharmacy ownership and leadership roles, and was instrumental in establishing the Guild’s Women and Young Pharmacists’ Committee. Wendy is an ardent believer in the important role that pharmacy assistants play in community pharmacy and recognises the value of education and support for pharmacy assistants.


Tony Riley Community Pharmacist & National Councillor, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia

Toni Riley is a National Councillor of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia and a member of the Health Economics Committee, which is involved in the ongoing management of the 4th Community Pharmacy Agreement. Recently appointed Chair of the Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacists, Toni is a strong advocate for improving the services and technologies available to rural pharmacies, and the status of women within pharmacy. Toni has worked in various roles in community pharmacy for almost 30 years, mainly in rural and regional areas of Queensland and Victoria.


Paula Tazzyman Paula Tazzyman Paediatric Dietician, Royal Far West Children’s Health Scheme

Paula Tazzyman graduated from the University of Sydney in 1995 with a Masters in Nutrition & Dietetics and in 1997 joined Royal Far West Children’s Health Scheme, a charity organisation caring for children from country NSW. As a paediatric dietician Paula sees over 500 children each year and management of ADHD is one of the primary reasons for referral. As part of a multidisciplinary team her main role is to help families improve the nutritional status of children and optimise their quality of life via dietary modifications.


Rita Walker
Trainer and Sales Consultant, Hydration Pharmaceuticals

Rita Walker joined the pharmaceutical industry after a successful career in nursing and midwifery in Australia, the UK and the Middle East. Rita has held various roles in sales and marketing and training over a period of 20 years, and now works in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales for Hydration Pharmaceuticals. In this role Rita’s primary focus is the delivery of the Hydralyte Training Program to pharmacy personnel and other allied health professionals.
